ELECTRODRY'S COMMITMENT TO QUALITYSteam cleaning, more properly known as hot water extraction cleaning, differs from dry cleaning in a few ways. The most obvious and important difference is that dry cleaning uses a dramatically smaller quantity of water. Steam cleaning works by injecting 10 to 50 litres of water into the carpet in each room, and then extracting it out again. This method can be quite effective, as long as spots are treated effectively beforehand. The main downside of steam cleaning is that it leaves a lot of water in your carpet, meaning you’re looking at at least 4 to 6 hours before you should walk on your carpets again.
Dry cleaning works treating stains and dirt with special dry cleaning solutions, which loosen the soiling. Then, when we do our conditioning rinse, the grime comes out easily. Because we work smarter, not harder, we don’t need to use 50 litres of water per room. This means your carpet is dry enough to walk on by the time we’re finished the job, and completely dry within an hour.

Carpet dry cleaning uses special powders or chemicals that are applied with water and pushed into the fibres of the carpet until all dirt has been removed from it so they can be ready for foot traffic as soon as possible. A rotating brush works to get rid of any excess powder while an extraction tool removes what’s left behind. This traps more particles within its bristles which will then fall out during washing cycles due to natural shedding.
In order to expedite the drying process of your carpet, there are a couple of things you could do:
Open your doors and windows - this will encourage ventilation and speed up the drying time of your carpet
Move your furniture – consider moving sofas, chairs, and other furniture away from the room when drying your carpet to allow for better air circulation.
Use standing fans – using standing fans helps to speed up air circulation, especially if you set it up near an open door.
Use a dehumidifier – if you live in a relatively humid area, use a dehumidifier to keep moisture levels down to a minimum and to help the carpet dry faster.
