How To Remove Fruit Juice Stain From Carpet

Normally you can remove fresh fruit juice stains from carpet without too much trouble, but it does depend on what kind of juice was spilled, and the type of the carpet. Apple juice spills will barely be noticeable (but they do leave a sticky residue), while orange juice spills can result in a strong orange stain.

 

How do you get fruit juice out of carpet?

If you get to it when it is still just a spill, it may not become a stain. Here's a few simple steps to treat a fruit juice stain:

1. As quickly as you can, soak up the liquid using undyed paper towels (white ones) or a clean white cotton cloth. Grab any towel or cloth if nothing else is available, but keep in mind that some have dyes that can transfer to carpet, causing more staining. Blot the stain by putting downward pressure on the cloth. Keep blotting with fresh towels till you no longer see colour transfer to the cloth.
2. Sponge the area with water to re-hydrate the stain and blot again. As in step 1, keep blotting until you can no-longer see and colour transfer on to the cloth. In the case of a large spill, you may need to re-sponge the area several times.
3. Treat the affected area with Electrodry’s Electro 3 stain remover (follow the instructions on the bottle) to remove any sugar or sticky residue. Alternatively try a few drops of dishwashing detergent in 150ml of warm water, blot dry and rinse with cold water. For most juices this should be enough.
4. In the case of large spill, rinse again with water to remove any residues and blot again.

If the spill has dried, try re-hydrating the area with water and follow steps 2 and 3.
