One way to keep things streamlined is to place your electronic appliances and devices (TV, music systems, players, recorders, DVDs, CDs, etc.) in the same area with their attendant wires/cables, adaptors, and remote controls. This minimises their intrusive presence (e.g., inside a custom coffee table or designated cabinet) when not in use. Make use of bookcases, storage drawers, ottomans, as well as decorative chests and boxes/baskets as containers for books, magazines, toys, accessories, and other items. Designate a mail centre where all mail, bills, receipts, flyers, etc. are kept and sorted, recycle junk mail promptly. (Check out Ideal Home for more details on how to pull this off.)
Also, try to make an effort to reduce the clutter at regular intervals (daily, if possible) so items don’t pile up to an unmanageable degree and eventually dissuade you from doing the task altogether.
