Ice, Ice baby… everything about ICE is cool. There is something for everyone, ice-pops and smoothies for kids, music (Vanilla Ice in the 90s) and cocktails for the ladies. Plus, hubby says he couldn’t live without a few ice-cold beers with his mates once in a while.

But did you know that ice has many practical uses beyond keeping food and drinks cold? Read on to find out all the unexpected ways you can use ice.

5 Amazing Ways You Can Use Ice Cubes

1. Removing splinters

I can hear the squeal as my little one shouts, “help mom –a splinter!” They are painful and hard to remove, especially if your daughter is as squeamish as mine. A quick remedy is to place an ice pack over the splintered area, once numbed you can extract the splinter without any pain.

2. Calming down pimples

If I had only known this when I was a teen, it would have saved me from many an awkward situation. Ice is known to reduce the swelling and appearance of those big, ugly whiteheads. Grab a couple of cubes in a clean cloth, then place it on top of the inflamed area. It should reduce the swelling and shrink the pores.

3. Air conditioning for kids

The perfect secret to share with the kids on hot a steamy, summers day. Place a big bowl of ice in front of your electric fan, crank up the speed and take pleasure in the cold air gushing past.

4. Taking out wrinkles

A quick wrinkle fix, especially useful for the ladies and anyone in a rush. Get the wrinkled shirt or dress, place it inside a dryer together with a few ice cubes. Run the dryer and the hot steam should iron out the crumples in a jiffy.

5. Removing crayon stains

If your kids are anything like mine this little trick is a life saver. Crayon on clothes can be removed by freezing the stained area. Once done, scrape off the excess crayon with a plastic card and place the blemished area between two clean paper towels. Press with an iron to transfer the crayon to the paper towel. Voila – I told you so!
